45th Reunion - Messages After the Party

Peter --

I wish I could say the alma mater was familiar to me, came right back when I saw those words, but it's not happening...looks only vaguely familiar, and then it's a stretch.

Anyhow, you and your committee did a wonderful job on the reunion -- it was a lot of fun, and Jim and I are glad we were able to be there. I hope you'll also plan the 50th for a summer date, so those of us who spend most of our year in the south can be there.

Thanks again for all your hard work.

Cathy Moon
Pete, Kudos to you and all the Reunion committee, for a job well done. You couldn't have chosen a better day.
Those who missed the event have passed a great opportunity to reacquaint with some of the nicest and best students that Linton could offered.
Enjoyed seeing everyone again and look forward to our next gathering!

I just wanted to thank you and the committee for a wonderful time at the
reunion. I know that it takes an awful lot time effort and hard work to put
something like this together and you did a superb job. It was great
connecting with everyone. Again, thanks for a great two days.

Best..............Tom Halstead

Hi Peter:  Let me add my THANK YOU to you and the committee for an outstanding job in putting
The Reunion together.  Karen enjoyed herself and knew a couple of my classmates.  Seeing how we
almost didn
't make it.  Karen is still sore and bruised up but thank God we were not seriously injured
or killed.  Guess it just wasn't our time.  But getting back to the reunion, it was good to see all of our
classmates that did make it.  Too bad more didn't come.  If you guys are planning any other events-
boat ride on Lake George, etc please let us know.  Life is too short and it is good to stop and smell the
roses, as the saying goes.  Especially after what happen to Karen and me on Tuesday evening.

Take care and God Bless.
 Len

I just wanted to convey the same appreciation for all the work the committee did to put this reunion together  I really enjoyed seeing everyone.  Great time.

To the Class of 1960 Planning Committee, congratulations on doing such an outstanding job in planning and executing our 45th Class Reunion.

To those who did not attend, you missed a terrific time.

Sharon and I enjoyed both Friday and Saturday events and it was a real fulfilling experience to re-connect with so many of my classmates.  We even had a chance to make some new friends.

And if anyone ever comes through Shreveport, Louisiana on their way to wherever, stop by and say hello.

Dear Peter,
Your conviction about the great worth of our getting together more frequently reflects the grace of God to which you are obviously sensitive.   That good, sweet part of you gave our reunion a special feeling.  It was so good for us to express to each other the satisfaction and happiness that we are alive still and appreciate the best of life's gifts.  The day Saturday was perfect in every way.  The Friday get together helped break the ice, but we had more room to mingle, and it was easier to talk at the Grove.  Please give my thanks to the whole committee for forging ahead and making it happen.  (I had been telling my friends for months that it is the Italians in my class who get these big parties organized.  You really know how to do it. Well I guess the Irish do, too. I am so glad you are also willing.)  This part is just for you and the committee.  The rest could be shared with everyone, unless you feel it is too long.  I just had to spend time on Sunday writing my Impressions.  Elaine Wright Mount
LINTON CLASS OF 1960 45th REUNION IMPRESSIONS
Our 45th reunion was the best celebration of being still alive that could be.  We who shared 3-6 years in the same school setting had an experience that was unique to only us.  Especially significant was being the first class through the extraordinary Linton High School.  If we also shared the same Junior High, then we came to know each other best, since HS did separate us out into different courses that fit our future plans for employment.  It was things like gym class, choir, and extracurricular events like  athletic intramurals, TOP,  and dances that were the mixers.
Our classmates have taken a variety of ways to make a living, chosen lots of places to live, had varying degrees of success in finding a mate and had a lot of different health histories.  No one  is without some bumps and bruises from experiences and expectations not realized.  But we have succeeded in finding compensations and picking up to carrying on.  We have made it to the 60's and are close to, if not already, enjoying retirement.  It was such fun to celebrate together all that stuff of life we've been through.
We are annoyingly labeled the silent generation, but "still waters run deep".  That doesn't mean we were ciphers and have not been significant, just that we have not made the tidal wave that the boomers made.  I think it has to do with our parents experiences and our upbringing.  They had toughed it out through WW II  and some of them remembered the depression.  So, we were taught lessons about valuing good but simple things like family, friends, and faith.  We were taught to spend and save with care, since there could be hard times again.  Our occupations have been significant, and we have contributed to a stabilizing factor in the fabric of life.
It was fun trying to guess who that vaguely familiar face belonged to and congenially laughing at how age has changed us.  It was  satisfying that making the decision to participate was so very worthwhile.  It was enlightening to hear each others stories and acknowledge that we are pretty glad to be alive.  There is sadness for those who are missing, because they've died too young.  It was enriching to share life experience and knowing everyone has had ups and downs, some quite similar to our own, but we can still smile and laugh.  And it was hopeful, because there were scores who did not come that we want to see.  We hope things do not prevent them from coming to the next.  We hope that those who stayed away only because of hesitation and reticence, will join us next time.
Lots if excuses for not attending our reunion are baseless.  No one is making judgments about others, just good humored comments about what aging does to us all.  There is no inquisition about anything you do not care to share.  Sharing memories of classes, teachers, events, mischief, relationships is voluntary and in good humor. Anyone can feel quite comfortable in being his/herself.  Isn't that something we have learned to do well as we age?
The reunion was one lovely evening and a perfect Saturday afternoon.  Here's to Linton HS  Class of 1960. Rah! Rah! Rah!
Everyone take care.  Elaine Wright Mount

Im on a ship in the Baltic Sea, reading all of the messages about a
wonderful reunion.  I'm sorry to have missed it, but I send you all my best.

I thought Saturday was spectacular.

I am still basking in the afterglow of last weekend. The opportunity to reconnect with so many people gave me a fabulous and very special feeling of closeness to my Schenectady life, and made me very aware of how much I cherish those years. How comfortable it was to "just pick up the beat" and fill each other in about the paths we've chosen, the families we've created, and a myriad of other life experiences that have enriched us.Friday evening my facial muscles were tense from smiling every minute! What great fun meeting and greeting each other.

While I'm basking, I'm also reeling thinking about the many hours the committee devoted to the planning of our reunion.Just placing our yearbook pictures in those little plastic sleeves for instance-a very tedious task. So we know there were a multitude of tedious tasks; probably more difficult than the one I've cited.

THANK YOU--ALL OF YOU--Kathy, Linda, Gary, Casey, Ron, Bob, Peter, Vincent, Carol, and Mary Ellen-----you gave us a gift that will keep on giving for many years hence.

Sincerely and with fond regards,

Thanks for all your time and hard work.  You and all the others did a wonderful job organizing and arranging the picnic and dinner.
Had a great time and was really fun to see everyone.

The pictures on the website taken by Sandy and the others were just wonderful, a real treasure. I loved everything about the reunion and thank you to the committee for putting it together and to all the classmates who attended and truly made it a reunion to remember always.

Hi Bob, I just saw something on the web site 45th reunion update. There are some pictures that were credited to me. Problem is, I didn't take any. I don't know who took them, but mabe you do. Just like in school, here I am getting blamed for something I didn't do. The only difference is in this case I am being credited for something I didn't do. I hope the "MAD PHOTOGRAPHER" doesn't show up at my door to take out my knee caps. Besides, if I took those pictures they most likely would have been out of focus, with the wrong shutter speed. That happens to me even with those throw-away cameras.

It was really great to see everyone again and I would like to add my thanks and appreciation to all of you on the committee who did such a great job. It was a perfect format and everybody was able to relax. I have a feeling we are going to have a great turn-out for the 50th and I am looking forward to it. Stay well and enjoy what's left of the summer.....

Len Porter
Hi Bob: Say when are you going to give me and not Len Porter credit for the photos on our Linton HS website? Sure was bad news about Mike Coffin passing away. Him, Bob Fanelli and I used to hang together while attending Yates School. Anyway give me some credit for those photos.

Thanks,
Len
Peter and committee

Thanks for all of the great work that you guys did in putting together this affair. Sorry I didnbt make it but I was out of country on business. There are several people that I remember and was I hoping to see involved in the communications process that led to the event. Ibm sure they are still in the Schenectady area. Hope I can make the 50th.

By the way, are there any photographs that have the names of the individuals identified?

Best Regards

Well, I'm late again. I hope I won't need a pass from the office. Anyway, I just wanted to add my 2 Cents worth.

Like many, I had a lot of reasons to skip the re-union but decided to opt in rather than out for once. I'm glad I did. It was a pleasant afternoon of greeting old friends and acquaintances. The food wasn't bad. I had the steak and someone else ate my clams. The company was good and the memories warm.

For others who opt out, my advice is to come to the next one if you can. --

Hi Peter--This thank-you to the committee is arriving late( as we say in Miami, it's on "Cuban Time") but I'm still re-living all of the fun and great friends I re-connected with at the reunion. You and the committee did an outstanding job and I hope all of you are planning the 50th!! I hope some of the no-shows who live in South Florida will come for the 50th. Thanks again.
